Hi, I'm Agatha Isabelle Moreira — a female software engineer focused on low-level systems, Linux internals, and Free/Open Source Software.

I've been working with technology since 2003 and professionally developing software for over 16 years, with experience spanning systems programming, infrastructure, automation, Unix environments, and open-source development.

My work is deeply rooted in the Unix philosophy: build reliable tools, understand systems thoroughly, and value simplicity, transparency, and technical craftsmanship.

Linux, Systems Programming, and FOSS

Linux has been both my professional environment and personal passion for more than two decades. My strongest interests lie in Linux kernel development, device drivers, operating system internals, low-level debugging, systems architecture, and UNIX environments.

I enjoy working close to the machine: kernel modules, memory management, sockets, process behavior, shell environments, and the countless small details that make complex systems work reliably.

My background is strongly aligned with Free Software culture and community-driven development. I value maintainability, portability, clean simple APIs, and software that respects users and developers alike.

Professional Journey

I started working full-time with software development in 2007. Over the years, I worked across multiple areas of technology while also founding a small software company, where my responsibilities ranged from software engineering and infrastructure to business operations and project management.

In 2020, after completing my Master's degree in Linguistics, I returned to focusing primarily on technical and engineering work as a freelancer and independent developer.

This unusual combination of systems engineering and linguistics shaped the way I think about software: communication, abstraction, structure, and human interaction are as important to good engineering as algorithms and performance.
